Merry Christmas! I honestly can’t believe a year has gone by since last Christmas… December 21 marks one year since we moved into our house here in Spokane!
We have come SUCH a long way since that day… Joel has a year of flight instructing under his belt, and Ryley and Camryn have almost completed their first semester of public school, and I’m happy to say we are completely settled in our home…no more mystery boxes to go through. This is the first time in 12 years that all of our belongings are under one roof… or even in the same state! It feels pretty good. We are so grateful.
To be honest… there are times that we long for – and really miss – the life where we directly served believers in the jungles of the Philippines. There are times that we grow weary of the cold, dark, dreary days of the northwest… and living in a state that is in the same country as our families- but still oh so far away! Being stateside now, we pictured being with family at Christmas… but flights from this far away cost several arms and legs so we had to stay put (with our limbs intact).
But all of that is ok. Because we see the value in where God has placed us. We love pouring into college students who are headed to the mission field- and that we can constantly pull from our Philippines experiences to encourage them- and spur them on to keep going. We love that God has molded and shaped our lives to fit so well here- the ministries we get to support pour out from what God has placed in our hearts.
It’s all worth it.
News Bulletin… Moody Aviation is NOT closing!
A few weeks ago, you might have heard that due to financial reasons, the Moody Bible satellite campus here in Spokane will be closing in June 2018. This closing does NOT include Moody Aviation.
Normally, Moody Aviation students do their Bible training at this Moody Bible satellite campus here in Spokane before they start at Moody Aviation. So now this presents a challenge for the aviation program… but our team is working hard to put together a plan to keep the Bible and missions training here in Spokane with adjunct professors. Please pray for our leadership here as they navigate this huge change. And please pray for the professors and staff at the satellite campus who will be without jobs in June.
During these last weeks, our Moody Bible Institute leadership conveyed their appreciation for what Moody Aviation does, and that there is no other flight school in the world (!!) that prepares men and women so well for serving in missionary aviation. Moody Aviation has a niche that warrants it continuing on.
This is huge… YOU are a huge part of the reason Moody Aviation isn’t closing. Did you know that 80% of the staff at Moody Aviation are missionaries just like us, who are supported by a team like you? THIS is one of the reasons why Moody Aviation is still financially viable. We say it all the time- but we really couldn’t be here without you behind us. And that’s the truth.
Join our Team!
With this in mind, we would like to invite you to join our support team! Our support has dropped quite a bit since we moved back to the USA… due to changing life circumstances of some of our supporters. If you’re looking for a ministry to support, we’d love to invite you to CLICK HERE and give one time or join our monthly support team. Not only are you supporting our family, but you are enabling Moody Bible Institute to continue providing this vital training for future missionary pilots. Thank you so much!
Pasta Night Continues!
We finished Pasta night in November for the fall semester and can’t wait to start again after Christmas! THANK YOU for the outpouring of support for this weekly event for the students and staff of Moody Aviation! It’s been our joy to host it and we’ve loved getting to know our Moody family better. THANK YOU from us – and from the hungry students!
Before we go, here’s a little Davis family slideshow so you can see what we’ve been up to!
We wish you and yours a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
